PayPal states on their website that it is always free to send money to family and friends with a PayPal account balance or bank account. However, if you make purchases and pay with PayPal, you can expect to pay a small fee.

For most people using PayPal the fee percentage is 2.9% with an additional standard charge of $0.30 USD. If you have monthly purchase payments between $3,000.01 and $10,000 USD then the fee percentage drops almost half a percent to 2.5% in addition to the $0.30 USD standard charge. If you have monthly purchase payments between $10,000.01 and $100,000 then the fee percentage drops to 2.2% in addition to the standard $0.30. If you are using PayPal for over $100,000 in transactions per month then PayPal only charges you 1.9% in addition to the $0.30 flat fee.
